How many years have you been in this business?

This is my 15th year in the business.

Why did you join BOMA?

I joined BOMA because of the people and opportunities we can create together.

What's one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?

I’ve learned in the last month that communication is everything. When you can’t see or speak with your employees in person it is crucial to make sure communication is flowing throughout the different provinces.

What educational or business experiences best prepared you for your career?

I believe it was the variety of different business experiences and challenges I had that prepared me and got me to where I am today.

What advice would you give to professionals coming in to the commercial industry?

My advice would be to just get out there, make people aware of your name and your role and always make yourself available and reliable for all your clients.

If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be and why?

My advice to my younger self would have be ‘no time is wasted when you’re investing it in your career’, no meeting or introduction is a waste of time because in the end, the more networking and the more people you connect with, the better it will be for you in the long run.

What's your favourite movie and why?

My favourite movie is The Wolf of Wall Street because he starts out in a job that he is not happy with and isn’t making the money he wants to be making so he takes it upon himself to make his life and career what he wants it to be, and succeeds.

If you could have dinner with someone famous (dead or alive) who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with someone famous it would be James C. Collins, He is a researcher, author, speaker and consultant. The reason I would pick James Collins is because I read all his books and value his advice and would love a full dinner to pick his brain.

How do you define success?

I define success through one word: ‘Happiness’.
